DGSA examinations are currently scheduled for

DGSA Dates for 2012

30th March 2012                                Closing Date: 2nd March 2012

6th July 2012                                     Closing Date: 11th June 2012

26th October 2012                              Closing Date: 28th September 2012

These exams will be based on the 2011 ADR.
DGSA Examinations are held in Dublin, Cork, Galway (subject to numbers) and other venues depending on demand. The DGSA examination application forms is available from the CILT website. The DGSA examinations is of the ‘open-book’ type and CILT provides a list of permitted documents, which may be used by candidates during exams.

The fee for the DGSA examination covers 3 examination papers – Core, Mode (Road) and Class papers. There is a separate fee for an additional mode paper.

The Examination Fee of Euro €395.00 - Three exams
Euro €260.00 - Two exams
Euro €130.00 - One exam
The Repeat examination fee is €130.00 (per subject) provided that the candidate re-sits the failed subject within 12 months of the original examination date.
Cheques, Postal Orders and Money Orders should be made payable to “The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport.

Supplementary Training for DGSA's

A number of the DGSA training providers (see Section above), supply additional training in the form of one or two -day seminars on the practical aspects of working as a DGSA which will assist persons in meeting their responsibilities as practicing dangerous goods safety advisers. These seminars are intended for persons who have already obtained their DGSA certificates. Interested parties should contact the training providers directly for details of course availability.

DGSA Services

Persons or companies involved in the consignment or transport of dangerous goods who require the services of a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) should consult the Golden Pages Telephone Directory or contact the DGSA Association of Ireland here or the DGSA training providers who may be in a position to refer them to a qualified DGSA. Persons holding a current DGSA certificate from any member state of the European Community may act for an undertaking in any member state for those Classes and transport modes which their certificate covers.

Approvals / Exemptions

Safety Advisers and others involved in the transport of dangerous goods should note that approvals or exemptions granted by the Health and Safety Authority which are in addition to those contained in the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Regulations will be posted on the HSA website here.
