Shortlist announced for prestigious new logistics and transport awards to take place next Thursday

5th February 2010 – The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Ireland (CILT)* has announced the shortlist for the inaugural Irish Logistics and Transport Awards, with the winners to be announced at its Annual Dinner in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, on Thursday 11th February 2010.

 

 

These prestigious new awards recognise the world-class excellence of individuals, companies, and operators in the Irish logistics and transport sector who help create and sustain a competitive edge for the Irish economy.

The Awards event will be hosted by former RTE presenter, Mark Little, and will include a keynote address by the Minister for Education, Batt O’Keeffe TD.

The ILTAs include two prestigious awards: the Overall Logistics and Transport Award for Excellence that will be selected from the winners of each category, and a Lifetime Achievement Award for an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to transport and logistics in Ireland over at least a 20-year period.

The full shortlist includes 35 nominees in eight separate categories including Environmental, Technology, Supply Chain management, HR Development, Safety, Logistics Best Practice, Passenger Transport, and Education. In addition, the CILT Innovator of the Year, Student Idea of the Year and Transport Journalist of the Year, Award will also be presented on the night

Speaking about the ILTAs, the CEO of CILT, Colm Holmes, said, “We believe it is right to recognise excellence in our industry, especially at this time when our sector is playing a vital role in providing services and infrastructure that will help build towards economic recovery. We are looking forward to them becoming an annual event for our sector.”
