The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Ireland hosted the 72nd Annual Dinner on Thursday 24th October last at the Royal Marine hotel Dún Laoghaire. The Mobility & Supply Chain Awards also took place on the night with the evenings events well attended by over 250 attendees across the transport, logistics and supply chain sector. Key stakeholders from the Department of Transport were in attendance, including Minister of State for the Department of Transport, James Lawless TD who addressed attendees.
Newly appointed programme director of MetroLink, Dr Sean Sweeney was special guest speaker on the night. The annual dinner is a night of celebration and recognition of achievement across the transport and logistics sector with the main ethos of the Institute promoting professionalism and enhancing standards across the industry.
Fellowships
Five fellowships were awarded on the night. Chartered Fellows are highly respected and experienced professionals who have reached a senior level of responsibility working in industry and/or academia. Successful applicants may use the globally recognised FCILT post-nominals on CVs, signatures and other business stationery. Chartered Fellows are entitled to all the member benefits offered by the Institute to build their professional networks and are also invited to some additional exclusive ‘Fellow only’ events.
These fellows included Ken Spratt, Secretary General at the Department of Trandsport, Pat Keating, CEO of the Shannon Foynes Port, Dr Eoin Plant-O’Toole, an Associate Professor in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Edinburgh Napier University Business School, Geraldine Finucane, Group Secretary to CIÉ, Donal Keating, retired from senior management operational roles at Dublin Bus, and long time member of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics, Ireland holding Chartered status and has been a member of the CILT Council since 2015. He is currently chair of the Business Development and Membership Committee in CILT.
Joe Kenny, current CEO of CILT Ireland was always awarded a fellowship of the Institute on the night.
It was a busy night full of awards with the student awards also taking place. Sponsored by Amazon, for the second year running, these awards celebrate third level students stuyding in a logistics and supply chain discipline with three awards granted on the night.

Winner of the Researcher of the year award nominated by Maynooth University for the study evaluating the cost-effectiveness of four alternative fuels for maritime transportation in Ireland: LNG, methanol, green hydrogen, and green ammonia wass Ketan Gore.
Winner of the undergraduate of the year award nominated by South East Technological University with 2 excellent assignments on SCOR and the Global Logistics provider landscape was Wanda Whelan.
Winner of the dissertation of the year award nominated by Atlantic Technological University for an excellent dissertation examining electronic word of mouth and using it to evaluate suppliers in e-commerce wass Mariam Elmofti
CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Award Winners The individual category for the awards was highly contested with some categories recieving silver medals as well as gold medal winnners with the Active Mobility award being deemed too close to call by the judging panel a joint Gold Medal winner was decided upon.
