South East Technological University (SETU) partnered with The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) to host the second annual Mobility and Supply Chain Skillnet Knowledge Day, as part of Logistics and Supply Chain Skills Week 2024.

The event was hosted at the university’s Carlow campus on Saturday 2nd March where third level students studying in the areas of supply chain management came together to learn about further educational opportunities and career pathways in the Irish sector.

Insightful talks were delivered by Conor Molloy of AEMS Ecofleet, Marcus Mallon of Amazon Ireland, Payal Pandya of Smart Cities Dublin and they were joined by panellists Kevin Walters, senior supply chain manager from Abbott and Hugh McAffee Logistics Manager at LIDL Ireland.

Topics covered ranged from 'What graduate attributes are employers seeking?' to 'Your career opportunity within climate action' to 'last mile delivery' and innovation at Amazon.

Earlier in the week, students from various third level institutions competed in the supply chain simulation game entitled the Triple Connection Sustainability Booster and the winners of this competition, Lubickiene and Thomas Toner were announced as taking first place. Arjun Pramod Menon took second place with both first and second place winners going home with a cash prize and a copy of Alan McKinnon's book 'Decarbonizing Logistics.' Third and fourth runner ups Shubham Hemal Kumar Bhuta and Manish Sharma, Celia Jeamet and Jia Li Chew also took home copies of Alan McKinnons book.

CILT student membership was also re-launched at this event. Student membership of the Institute was previously only awarded to students of the Higher Certificate in Sustainable Supply Chains, Digitalisation and Logistics however it is now open to students of all third level institutes on a supply chain, logistics or transport course to apply at a reduced rate.
