Holder of MEngSc and MBA degrees and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (FCILT), with over 40 years of industry experience. Has held senior leadership positions across multiple functions, including Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Bus Éireann. A long-standing contributor to the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, serving as a Council Member and Chair of both the Education and Management Committees, as well as a period as CEO of the Institute.

Vice President CILT Ireland, Martin Cooney

Martin is Senior Partner and Head of the Infrastructure, Construction and Energy Group at ByrneWallace LLP, specialising in construction and insurance law. A qualified solicitor since 2009, he holds multiple legal and postgraduate qualifications including MSc degrees in Criminology and in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution.

He is a member of the Law Society of Ireland, the Law Society of England and Wales, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Martin has 28 years’ service with the Reserve Defence Forces, where he holds the rank of Captain and serves as Staff Officer in the Transport School, Defence Forces Training Centre.
