First Aid Refresher (QQI Level 5 Standard)

About the Course

An interactive course that combines theory sessions with demonstrations, practical tasks (including AED DVD for unit 4) and assessments of individual skills.

First Aid Refresher training is delivered on a ratio of 1 mannequin and 1 training AED for every 4 learners as stated in the new standard. Participants will also receive a comprehensive first aid and CFR manual.

Requirements Participants must hold a current a QQI Level 5 Occupational First Aid Certificate. First aid refresher training must be attended within 2 years of the original certificate being issued. First aid refresher training every two years is essential in order to keep up with developments in first aid practice and to refresh skills that may be only intermittently used.

Who should attend?

Any holder of a QQI Level 5 Occupational First Aid Certificate who needs to be recertified within the 2 year period as per HSA guidelines.

PLEASE NOTE: As of January 2012, QQI no longer issue separate certificates for first aid refresher courses. Participants will instead receive a CILT certificate of completion. 

This certificate is still valid and meets the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, General Application Regulations 2007 and the Occupational First Aid Assessment Agent and is in accordance with QQI Quality Assurance standards.

This 1 day Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Level 5 Occupational First Aid component certificate course covers all the essential aspects of occupational first aid as outlined in Module D20188 and was introduced on 1st September 2008.

All assessments are carried out in accordance with QQI regulations and are internally verified and externally authenticated before certification is issued.

All participants have the right to appeal their result and all appeals will be dealt with in accordance with CILT QQI appeals procedure.


CILT Certificate in Occupational First Aid This is valid for 2 years as per HSA guidelines.
