CILT Ireland Honours Roy Boneham for Outstanding Contribution to Dangerous Goods Management

On Monday 13th October, a presentation was made to one Roy Patrick Boneham in recognition of outstanding and sustained service to the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and to the profession of dangerous goods management.

Since the inception of the Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) qualification, Roy Boneham has served as Chief Examiner, guiding its development and upholding the highest standards of competence, safety, and professionalism across Ireland and the wider international community.

A respected authority on the transport of dangerous goods, Roy’s career has spanned more than five decades of leadership, training, and regulatory influence. His work has shaped policy and practice through his engagement with the United Nations, the European Commission, and the UK Department for Transport, ensuring that industry and academia alike benefit from rigorous, practical, and globally aligned standards.

As Principal Consultant at New Alchemy Training and Consultancy and as a founding influence within the Association of Tank Container Operators, Roy has not only shared technical knowledge but has also inspired generations of logistics professionals to value safety, precision, and integrity.

In recognition of this exemplary service and contribution to the advancement of logistics education, safety, and professional excellence, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport expresses its deep gratitude and presents this citation to Roy Peter Boneham. Awarded with appreciation and respect on behalf of the Institute and the Dangerous Goods community, whose standards he has helped to define and sustain.

We were delighted some of Roy's SME (Subject Matter Expert) colleagues were able to join us on this occasion as well as Jean Shannon from the HSA as Roy was presented by President of CILT Ireland Tim Hayes and his SME colleagues.
