2025 CILT Annual Dinner and Awards

On Thursday 16th October last, a night of celebration took place in the Royal Marine hotel, Dún Laoghaire. This night marked the 73rd Annual Dinner of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Ireland. The event brought together 200 professionals across the transport, logistics and supply chain sector to network and celebrate the recognition of individuals and organisations within the sector with the CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Awards.

Attendees celebrated in the glamourous scenic surroundings of the Royal Marine hotel and were treated to a networking drinks reception on arrival, kindly co -sponsored by PerformanSC and CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Skillnet. A four-course meal followed, with special guest speaker, Daniel Stanton, known to many as Mr. Supply Chain over from the US taking to the stage to speak about the importance of relationships, trust and vulnerability in building a resilient supply chain. An extremely apt topic given the important networking element of being part of a professional body.

Unfortunately, Minister Sean Canney who was due to address attendees on the night was indisposed. We wish the Minister well and look forward to welcoming him to future events.

Fellowships

Immediately preceding the awards ceremony, six newly elected Fellows of the Institute were awarded their Fellowships by President Tim Hayes in recognition of their outstanding work across the sector and their contribution to the further advancement of the Institute in Ireland. The newly elected Fellows are as follows: Fiona Brady, Martin Cooney, Mary Cadogan, Larry Banville, Karl Flood and Cyril McIntyre.

Applicants to become a fellow of the Institute require a minimum of seven years recent senior management experience in the logistics, transport or supply chain industries. The Board of Directors of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport may grant fellowships in the case of an individual’s eminence in or outstanding contribution to the industry.

Fellows of the Institute are entitled to use the post-nominal letters FCILT (Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport) while being an active, paid member of CILT and can vote in CILT’s AGM.

Please note: Fellowship is by nomination process only - an individual may not apply for this grade level, it is awarded by peers and the Institute.

A honourary Fellowship was also granted to Pat Mangan. We had hoped to award Pat this special commendation – at the annual dinner last year however unfortunately he was unavailable to attend.

Pat Mangan, played pivotal roles in both the Departments of the Environment and Transport and CILT and has made a substantial contribution to our industry.

He shaped Government policy and has been integral to the development of transport in all its facets in Ireland.

Pat’s contribution to CILT over the last 20 years has been immense. He has been a central contributor to the development of CILT as a professional body. Not only chairing very effectively several key committees, but he has also been the driving force behind ensuring governance and best practice applies across the board.  Pat’s input advice, guidance and the meticulous drafting of documents was essential to CILT becoming a Company Limited by Guarantee. The recognition of Pat as only the second recipient of an Honourary Fellowship – the first being awarded to Dr Garret Fitzgerald – underscores the high regard in which he is held by the Institute.

CILT Academic Awards

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport was delighted to recognise and award such talent and innovation across the sector not just from professional individuals and organisations working in the sector but also from students.

The CILT Academic Awards also took place on the night, sponsored by Amazon, with three clear winners awarded across categories – Undergraduate Student of the Year, Dissertation of the Year and Researcher of the Year.

Undergraduate Student of the Year - Winner

Hong Ki To (also known as Connie) nominated by South East Technological University, recently completed her Level 8 degree in Supply Chain Management. An adult learner who returned to study during COVID while working with TUI Airways, Connie combined academic excellence with real-world experience.

Her final-year projects, both based on TUI, showcased exceptional analytical ability and insight. She examined global logistics and sustainability challenges and used the SCOR framework to evaluate how pre-ordering meals on long-haul flights could reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Connie’s work was commended for its research depth, practical application, and innovative approach to sustainable logistics.

Researcher of the Year – Winner
Kamalakkannan Sivappirakasam singlehandedly led the Dublin-Holyhead Green Shipping Corridor project in 2024/2025, achieving significant results. He analysed 1,021 ferries across 440 ports, identifying Dublin-Holyhead as one of the top three Northern European routes with the highest potential for CO₂ emissions reduction.

Kamalakkannan’s work demonstrates timely, applied research with real industry impact, making him an outstanding candidate for the award.

Dissertation of the Year – Winner
Roseanne Timlin, a recent graduate of the MSc Supply Chain Management Executive Apprenticeship at the University of Limerick and Supply Chain Operations Brand Manager at Abbvie Ireland, has been recognised for her outstanding dissertation.

Her research explored the role of Supply Chain Management in the success of New Product Introductions (NPIs). Through a multi-case study of ten global companies across FMCG, Medical Device, and Pharmaceutical sectors, Roseanne identified critical supply chain factors influencing launch success and developed a descriptive framework offering a benchmark for best-in-class launch processes. Her work combines academic rigour with real-world applicability.

The evenings events wrapped up with a fantastic charity prize raffle which raised funds for two very deserving charities – ALONE and BUMBLEance. We are delighted to say that €2,810 was raised which will be rounded up to €3,000 by the Institute and split between the two charities.

Thank you to the businesses who donated raffle prizes for this very worth cause – from a family return rail trip from Iarnród Éireann, Cassidy Travel voucher, Outdoor Living voucher, whiskey from Walsh Whiskey, afternoon tea at the Royal Marine and an overnight stay with dinner for two at The Grand Hotel In Malahide.

Plans are already in the works for the 2026 Annual Dinner and Awards so watch this space! We would like to once again take this opportunity to thank our sponsors without whom this event would be possible. Thank you to Amazon, ISM Training and Recruitment, Logiskills, Enterprise Mobility, SGS, PerfomanSC and CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Skillnet. Thank you also to all those who attended on the night, your dedication to supporting the professionalism and enhanced standards of the industry is evident to all around you.
